Is there a way to force a W2K client to a specifc domain controller at logon
time?

Thanks in advance

A client calls the dns server (SRV records) in its site for a dc, if there
is only one dc in this site then it has a good chance of connecting, unless
the dc is unavailable to respond from being to busy or down. From the size
of your network busy probably won't be a problem.

But the bottom line is you can't get a client to absolutely connect to the
same machine everytime. You could define a special dns server with the srv
records just for that dc, but then you would have to manually manage. There
is no way to guarantee a same connection everytime.

It's designed NOT to do that. Computers should
authenticate with any DC in the site, and then
with the nearest or whatever DC they can find.

You can encourage them to use a specific (set of)
DCs by setting up a "site" even if that is only a subset
of your actual location-site.
