Force NIC speed through the registry?

Hi There,

We have recently resolved a network issue which involved manually
setting the NIC speed on the Client machine to 1000Mbps/Full Duplex
(instead of "auto-negotiate")

We have almost 100 users in our office but use only two models of
motherboards both with onboard NICS, so hardware is quite uniform.
They are all running Windows 2000.

We'd like to push this "fix" out to all the users automatically via an
automatic registry entry (with a *.reg file), rather than visit each
machine individually and make the change on NIC.

I have located the registry entry that has to do with the NIC, but do
not see see anything specifically referring to the speed (even with it
set manually).

Does anyone know if there is a such an entry that would force the
speed/duplex for the network card? If so, where would it be located?

Yes, there is an adapter-specific entry in the registry. If you
cannot readily find it then you have to do it be before/after
comparison: Export the suspected registry branch before
and after you change the speed, then compare the two
exported branches.
