Force Monitor refresh rate

I have a KFC 15" monitor. It supports v-refresh:70kHz
This means:
1024x768@85Hz however vista limmits me to 75 Hz
1152x867@75Hz however vista limmits me to 60 Hz
1280x960@70Hz however vista limmits me to 60 Hz
1280x1024@60Hz no limits here

I want to use 1280x960@70Hz, V=69.9kHz (push the limmits) - this works just
fine in Windows Server 2003.

I have unchecked this checkbox:
Hide modes that this monitor cannot display.

What can I do to enable the refresh rates supported by my monitor? Is there
another setting or registry entry, which I can edit?

PS: I use the built-in display driver (Microsoft). ATI no longer offers
pre-lease drivers for vista RC1. I do have ATI drivers for vista-beta-2, but
I'm don`t want to use it. I already had too much pain with ATI software.
 
You will have to wait till the manufacturer of your video card supplies
drivers that are 100% compatible.

If they are going to support your card at all, the drivers should be coming
soon - in a couple of months I expect.

Have you tried installing the drivers that are specific for your
monitor or are you using the standard "Plug and Play" monitor
selection in Vista.

If your monitor maker does not have Vista specific files then try the
XP ones. I used the XP ones for my monitor and they work just fine.

Vista's policy for refresh rate restriction is a nightmare!
I guess it asks the monitor to determine what it supports (I don`t remember
how this was called). Then it won`t let you use refresh rates that exeeds
the determined parameters. Unfortunately it is either that the parameters
stored in the monitor are incorrect, or windows will interpret it
incorrectly. May be windows prevents using the last 1kHz for safety.
The monitor supports a vertical refresh rate of 70kHz, and windows will
detect it as 69kHz.
1280x960@70Hz has vertical refresh of 69.8kHz which is in the supported
range of monitor, but out of detected :-(
Same with 1024x768@85Hz.
Same under Linux.

In XP I can uncheck: Hide modes that this monitor cannot display
and force whatever I want, but Vista won`t let me exeed the detected
limmits.

I modified monitor.inf and reinstalled the monitor, I tried to install
another monitor, I modified the registry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\VIDEO\{88EB1E34-0943-4EA2-BAA9-40EA2CA147A2}\0000]
DefaultSettings.VRefresh=85
DefaultSettings.XResolution=1024
DefaultSettings.YResolution=768


Nothing helped!
