I am teaching a class at a local client's office to bring some VBA and Fox
programmers up to speed on VB.NET.

Four days of training to cover Forms, Web Apps, Services, XML, Console Apps,
Classes, etc

rough week.

The client tonight gave me a copy of a gigantic 4-project system written by
an "outsourced" company, code written in Moscow, that has hundreds of
classes and aspx files with some bizarrely convoluted spaghetti code.

They want me to give their developers a run-down and brain-dump on how the
system works.

Tomorrow and the next day.

ROFLMAO

client with these types of expectations = very lousy client.

When I was younger and more naive, I used to think you could use rational
thought and reason with them. Now that I'm old and bitter, I know better :-)
Remember, stupidity is willful ignorance!

In this case, the client admits this. They understand that their people are
not qualified, and this is precisely why I am involved.

But sheesh, two days ?!? I'm going to have a LOT of fun with this project.

Yes but think of the potential. Once you become the expert on this system.
You can command your own salary/rate. And another point, this makes some
comment on taking development outside the UK to a third world country ( Not
sure if Russia qualifies for that now almost ).

Pay peanuts, get monkeys.

Regards and Good Luck - OHM#

Reminds me of when i took my first VB course during nite classes,
a few programmers/managers from a local insurance company were in the class.
When the instructor asked people to double-click the VB icon on their
desktop, there was immediate confusion. These poor folks started raising
their hands, asking how to do that. Apparently they had never used a mouse
or Windows before, and were there to learn VB coding in 5 nights!

I mostly felt bad for them (after all, someone from their company should
have had a clue before signing them up), until they gave the instructor a
negative review for not spending enough class time teaching them how to use
a GUI.

Good luck
