For Russ Valentine ------ I do not recommend MapiLab Add-Ins! Here's why.

Hi, Russ!

After receiving your feedback below, I searched for a duplicate remover on
Google and found MapiLab. I tried their add-in, which seemed to work all
right. But when I paid my registration fee, the registration code that they
sent to me was invalid. So far, I have not been able to get them to make
the Outlook Contacts Remover add-in that I paid for work. I'm not sure if
they are engaged in fraudulent activity or not, Time will tell. I thought
you might like to know.

Now you see why we tell you not to export. It is never the correct way to
transfer Outlook data.
At this point you would need to use a third party duplicate checker. There
are several and they are easy to find.

I recently exported my Contacts list to a .pst file and somehow each
Contact Card wound up being exported into that pst file 3 times. An, of
course, that's exactly what I get when I try to Import that .pst file back
onto my original computer after formatting the disk & reinstalling WinXP
Pro SP2 and Office 2003.

Is there any simple way to get rid of all the duplicates. To delete them
manually would require an incredible amount of time. There are literally
thousands of them. So, I shall greatly appreciate your help.

Interesting. I'm not familiar with their product. Here are the utilities
listed on Slipstick:
http://www.slipstick.com/addins/contacts.htm#dupes

I'd suspect this is more likely a glitch than "fraudulent activity." We'll
just have to see if they acquit themselves.

Hi, again, Russ!

I agree with you on seeing if they acquit themselves. I'll give 'em a few
days.

I downloaded Slipstick's Outlook duplicates remover. It's running now,
though it seems to be in some kind of loop. I'm not sure why. Anyway,
we'll see... Thanks for your help!

Hi, again, Russ!

Thanks a million for the SlipStick tip. The Outlook duplicates remover
works great! It is pretty slow, though. One simply needs to let it run &
do its thing. It looks as if it's in a loop for quite a while at first,
(going through a file of over 2,000 Contacts.) It goes through it over and
over and over.... I guess it opens one contact card, then compares it to
all the ret in the file, deleting any duplicates that it finds, then opens
the next card and proceeds from there. That's certainly one approach,
though I'm confident there are faster methods. But as the old adage goes,
what did I expect for nothing.

Turns out my concerns over fraud were groundless. ShareIt.com cancelled the
order and issued a credit to my charge card for the full amount of the
charge. under the circumstances, it turned out all right. So, I rescind my
remarks about ShareIt.com and MapiLab.com.

Thanks again for the heads-up on SlipStick!

Hi Dick,

you have contacted with our support team through Trouble Ticket system (
http://www.mapilab.com/support/ ).

You have ordered Actual Contacts instead of Duplicates Remover -- at July 9.
And your request regarding the code has been posted to our trouble tickets
system at July 9, Saturday. We have no 24/7 support, so you have received
the reply at Monday, less than in 48h.

Are you think that it was correct? To order the product at July 9, to post
the ticket at July 9 and post here "I do not recommend..." at July 9 too?

Moreover, if you want to find all duplicates not only in the contacts,
but also among files on a disk, try «Shuric scan». I think he of you
will not disappoint...
