I have been a regular to this ng for some time.
I come here looking for programs for which:
a) I pay nothing
b) contains no spyware
c) does not defraud someone who normally would sell the product.

If it contains ads, registration, donation, limitation etc. that's my
problem not yours.
So let's review and use some freeware and stop f'in' carping.

Easy there Jim - don't want to blow a cork. I agree with you completely
on this. The poster should say," example.exe contains ads and
registration is required " or words identifying its status and then its
up to the rest of us to download or bypass.

By your definition of "freeware" if I had to endure an hour sales promotion
to use the software it would qualify. No thanks.

Thank you for the freeware police,

Dave H.

Huh? You read the post and it says example.exe contains
registration/adware/whatever. You then decide what to do. Where does the
one hour sales promotion coome in?

Now wouldn't that be simple and wonderfully useful!! :-)

That's the sanest & simplest approach to this whole issue... the one
I've advocated every time I've chipped in when this flares up. The most
important thing is to QUALIFY with such relevant info. Consistency in
restricting posts to various levels of "purity" is just not possible.
Far better to put the policing efforts to work in checking up on posted
software, and following up with the appropriate extra info, as well as
telling the OP to do the same in the future.

Well said. That makes a lot of sense.
