Hi Bob,
From now on I will leave all messages here, if that's
okay. An HP scanner sits on one side, printer on other.
Real cheap speakers that came with old computer sit right
at the back exactly next to monitor. Lamp on each side,
and the lamp on the right is sitting on top of an old
Fisher speaker (probably 30 y/o or more - not shielded?)
The speakers that connect to TV and receiver are 4 feet
away, however, they are alot newer Cerwin Vega, maybe 6
years old, and I believe they are shielded. Only one on
this side of the room. Old Fisher is about 18 inches away
from where monitor sits on comp desk. Desk against back
wall of townhouse, double sliding glass door to the right,
and fireplace to the left. Could the cheap computer
speakers affect monitor even when they are not powered
on? I can toss them without a second thought, and I can
move the ancient fisher speaker as well. You are
terrific, and I really, really appreciate your time! Cindy

"Old Fisher" powered up when the jiggles occur? the other possiblity is
the "degausing" circuit in the monitor being triggered for some reason.
you can see the effect by manually tripping it. As you can tell I can't
tell you the answer, just where to look for it.

Would an Air conditioning/heat pump Unit be right on the other side of
the wall? If so do the "jiggles" coincide with the unit cycling?

How did you know that?!! Yes, there is a heat pump/ac unit
by the outside basement steps, so it's on the other side
over to the left if you are sitting at the computer. It's
off right this minute, and no jiggling, so I am going to
turn it on and see what happens. I have moved so much
stuff away from the monitor since last night and it hasn't
helped. Let you know in a sec.

#$%@^&%#$@ RATS!!! I turned it on - wasn't jiggling at
that minute, and nothing. When I hit the "degausing"
button in the OSD, the entire picture shakes. If I repeat
this process it will shake less and less, but a few
minutes later it's back to the original "big shake". What
does this mean?

You should not pop the degauss circuit repeatedly! Its running a hi amp
alternating current thru a coil around the monitor and you can overheat
the circuit and wiring. If hitting the Degausing button recreates the
symptom you see, then the problem most likely lies in the monitor
electronics. Normally when you power a monitor on, the deguauss
circuitry would activate once and you would never notice it. Does the
deguass replicate what you are seeing?

I would have gotten back to you sooner, but for some
reason every time I tried, I kept getting "message
unavailable". Now it's okay. To answer your question,
the degauss does not replicate what I am seeing. I didn't
know about the degauss circuit, and I will not pop it ever
again. I am so glad you told me, and boy, do I feel like
an idiot. And now I'm pretty sure that it is not the heat
pump, because I'm in Maryland and it's really cold, cold
enough that the heat has been running a lot. It hasn't
jiggled all day, but that doesn't mean it won't tomorrow.
I hope you find this because I couldn't even access the
message board since yesterday. I kept geeting an error
message every time I tried.
