As a person who until now only used Microsoft software from about 1998 onwards and now on a pension I had a look around for another operating system which was user friendly and less expensive to run and investigated all other possibilities and eventually settled on Linux Mint as as far as I can see all software is free there are no worries about viruses etc.
As a newcomer to Linux I have found a great site which will help many people who would like to ether dual boot or go the whole hog like me and explains in simple terms how to migrate from Microsoft or Mac to Linux and the best distro's for a newby and here is the link:- http://linuxnewbieguide.org/
I have found this site to be very helpful and informative.
