Is there any way than I can set it up so that Word and Excel files always
have the file location and current date printed.
In other words I do not wish to set this up on every new file but it would
be a standard setup.
Thank you

You could open a new file Insert the date and filename in the Header or
Footers and save as a template.. If you call the template Workbook then it
should open with this setup. If it has a differrent name you will have to
open say MyTemplate when you want to start a new workbook.

If the change of the template called Workbook works see what the Word
template is called and repeat the procedure.

You could also record a macro to insert the filename and date in Word and in
Excel.

All word Macros are automatically stored in the Document template so that
you can always run it in any file.

In Excel the macro needs to be saved in your Personal file so that is always
available. If you do not have a Personal Workbook, record the macro and save
the file as Personal. This is then saved in the Excel Start folder so the
macro will be available for use in any workbook. The Personal workbook is a
hidden file, open but not on view,

If this helps please click Yes.

It depends on the version of excel.

xl2002 (or xl2003) added a button for Path on that file|page
setup|header/footer|Custom ... dialog.

You can create a template (like Billy/Peter wrote).

You could create a workbook template named book.xlt and store it in your XLStart
folder. You can name the sheets whatever you want (and do other stuff, too --
print headers/footers/margins).

In xl2003, a new workbook will be created based on this workbook when you click
on the New Icon on the standard toolbar.

And if you want this same info on each new sheet you add to an existing
workbook, create another template and store it in that same XLStart folder. But
name it Sheet.xlt

If you're using xl2k or below, you can use an addin from John Walkenbach that
may make life a bit easier:

I will use the suggestion of Billy since its also recommended by Dave,
Thank you Billy "Peter" and Dave, for your assistance.
