I have presentations created in older versions of PPT. How can I use PowerPoint 2000 or 20002 to creat footers in them? I have tried saving them as a later version but that did not work. I have 450 presentations to update!!

The instructions that Michael and I gave will work. What isn't working for
you?

Sorry, when I did not see my question on the list I resubmitted it. I am trying your suggestion from the other post

Thanks

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

Most likely, if using the "View -> Header and Footer" command is having no
effect on your presentations, the presentations have missing placeholders
on their Master(s) for the various header/footer elements. To add the
missing placeholders back to your master(s) do the following:

1) View -> Master -> Slide Master (or Notes Master, or Handout Master)
2) Format -> Master Layout (or Notes Master Layour, or Handout Master
Layout)
3) Select the missing placeholders that you want to add back to the master
(Footer,, Slide number, Date, or Header <Notes andHandouts only>)
4) Click OK
5) Close master view

I tried it, it did not work

I believe the presentations were first created in PPT 95 version

When I do what you suggested it all seems to work (I can see that I have changed the master) but when I go back to normal view, the footer still does not appear. Yes, I made sure footer was checked. What it seems is that PPT 2000 just will not recognize footers if the file was originally created in PPT 95. I tried saving as a newer version file

Is it possible that you have a background image that is covering the footer
information?

That did not work either.

The master says the footers are there but they do not appear on the slides.

Nope, nothing is infront of the footer space on the slide. As I said when I open the master it says that I am adding the footer to the slides but when i go back to the slides the footer is not there. sorry to take so long to reply but the reply I sent was never posted to the thread

I would like to have a look at the presentation if it is not to big and the
material is not sensitive. my email is (e-mail address removed)

Could you be a little more explicit, also turn off upper case, as it indicates
that your shouting at us
