Footers not appearing in 2000 presentation

I have a PP 2000 presentation (that someone else
created). When opening it in PP 2002, the footers don't
appear. When I try to add them, they still don't
appear. If I create a new slide show and add footers,
they appear. Any ideas how to get the footer into this
presentation?
 
Are the footer placeholders still in the crated presentation? View | Master | Slide Master
