Dear Friends,

I'm a tech support guy but not a PowerPoint expert. I have an end-user
trying to create a .ppt file (Powerpoint 2000) with shockwave files and
movies (.wmv and .mpg versions available) that will be burned to CDs and
given to presenters who will be using Win98 and Win2K machines.

My boss has been working with end user up 'till now, but he's out today. The
issues they've run into involved path and drive letters to movie files.
When done as simple insert>movie, the file wouldn't run off CD. So they
were inserting a Media Player Control, putting file name in properties, and
that seemed to work, but isn't any more due to error in VBA (well, it runs,
but first says "can't exit design mode because Control 'WindowsMediaPlayer1'
can not be created". I've gone to the VBA and trided to eliminate the
references to WindowsMediaPlayer1, but they seem to keep recurring, even
though I save the project with them gone.

I've got to believe that this is a common thing people want to do and
there's a simple solution you can direct me toward. Appreciate any
assistance.

The easiest way to accomplish this is to put all the file into the same folder
as the presentation before creating the links. You might also want to look at:

Ridge,
You need to put the movies in the same folder as the presentation, then do
the linking. (If the links are already created the other way, you will need
to delete them before you link to the copy of the movie in the presentation
folder.)
