What is a good source of free fonts? I'm not interested in free-to-try or
sites that don't mention that the fonts you download are part of a "free"
promotion, but you have to buy them or they'll expire. Recent hard drive
failure lost some good fonts I had acquired, but can't find their original
source anymore. Thanks for all suggestions.

Go to Luc Devroye's Font Pages http://cgm.cs.mcgill.ca/~luc/fonts.html
and check his Freeware/Shareware links.

If you get overwhelmed by the hundreds of links there, go to the designer
section of Typoasis http://moorstation.org/typoasis/designers.htm . All
fonts are free and most are professional quality.

The Apostrophic Lab www.apostrophiclab.com is another source of professional
freeware fonts but right now it's closed for redesign.

Or you could just go to alt.binaries.fonts and see what you find there.

P.S. Some people in this newsgroup do not consider free fonts as a type of
freeware. I am of the belief that this group exists also to help in a
courteous manner and if their belief is that it isn't freeware by the
groups definition they should redirect to the proper place if need be. As
most do.
