Hello,

I bought a new laptop which came with a screen resolution of 1400x1050. When I change the resolution to 1024x768 the fonts look very unsharp/fuzzy. Any idea how I can solve the problem? (Windows XP professional).

Thanks,

Uwe

Run the laptop at it's designed resolution and drop the
frequency when i us xp on a crt screen and run it at 85Hz
i get the same problem when i drop the resolution to 60Hz
problem solved.

U can also activate the "Clear Type", which gives much clearer fonts on a LCD screen of a
Laptop

Hi Uwe,

There isn't anything you can do about it. The problem occurs, because the number of pixels is a fixed amount. When you lower the
resolution, the screen image is interpolated down the new resolution.

Basically, when buying a laptop, you should get the native resolution that is comfortable with the way you work. My HP Pavilion
zd7010us has a 1440 * 900 display on a 17" display. I found that resolution to be comfortable for the amount that I use my
computer. I know people who have bought Dell Inspiron with the UXGA display and end up running it at SVGA resolution to be able
to use the machine comfortably.

LCDs are a VERY subjective thing. If you are not happy with the display, I would return it and find a computer that had a more
comfortable display. Best Buy & CompUSA both have a good selection of laptops that you can look at and compare.

Ciao . . .
