DAMN! I wish somebody'd port this to Windows.

FontForge is The Project Formerly Known As PfaEdit...

(Meaning that it probably still works--more or less--under Cygwin ;-)

The download page has instructions on how to get it running in
Windows. As JanC mentioned, it runs on Cygwin.

Thanks to you two for the clarification. I've already tried getting it
to work on my system via Cygwin and gave up. Just not worth the
hassle. The wait for a Windows based truetype font editor continues
(at least until I can switch to Linux.)

John;
I'm trying to get DoubleType working right now. Requires Java, but it
looks okay.

Fraid I quit using Java thanks to that RedSherrif business.

A new sub-category of freeware is needed - Asceticware. :-)

Roger, you *do* know what I'm referring to, I hope. Redsherrif is (or
maybe was, since their site is blank) a "data" mining company. They
accomplished their mission by violating their victim's privacy via
using Java to crawl inside a computer.

Besides, I am indeed an ascetic when it comes to freeware. No bones
about it.

Now a cite on _that_ would be interesting...

No I didn't! A tracking cookie or something? Oh dear, I'll have to
forego the donkey sites in future. Oh no! It's too late!!

I'll do some more reading I think .... after I've made some sense of
Cygwin and FontForge.

(link may wrap)

The Redsherriff site itself doesn't load anymore and most references
to it are gone from the internet for some reason.

Also, note this little jewel:

which seems to indicate Sun Microsystem's feelings on privacy.

I don't miss Java at all. Never used a Java program that I found
vital. However, this truetype font editor almost temps me to reinstall
Java, but not enough to do so.
