Font Problem with ppt viewer

I have a presentation that I packaged on a CD in ppt 2003. It has run perfectly on all the computers that I have tried it on (20). I sent a few copies to a friend, after checking them on my computer (which they ran fine on), and the text was jumbled together. Does anybody know if this is a problem with the software on my end or their end, and how to possibly fix it.

Thanks

Mark

Did you use a font in the presentation that your friend doesn't have installed?

You mentioned in your other post that the file sorted itself out the second time through.

I find that really odd! I've seen some issues with overlapping text that have been fixed by lowering hardware acceleration. (Instrux at http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00129.htm )

You might have your friend try this, and if it does work, perhaps include that information in the slipsheet or on the label of your CD.

It should be the same, it is the same version of windows and he said the computer
as sufficient capacity and speed.

When it comes to fonts, "Should be" isn't good enough. Either the same exact font
is available on the target system or it's not, in which case PPT will substitute a
different font. Sometimes the substitute's close, sometimes we're talking "left
field". ;-)

Are you embedding fonts in the presentation, though?

I checked, it is the exact same version that I have on my computer and the fonts
were not embedded.

You could try uninstalling the font then reinstalling from a known-good copy, but
first I'd:

- Completely power the computer down, wait five minutes or so then restart. See
if that helps.

- Verify that there isn't e.g. both a TT and Type1 (Postscript/ATM) font on the
computer.
