Font lines per inch: Verdana vs Trebuchet MS

For me, Trebuchet MS is more readable than Verdana (which I've
been using for years); I'd change all my defaults now, except for
one small problem: With Trebuchet specified for one of my html
pages, instead of Verdana, I get about 15-20% fewer lines on a
screenful.

Is there any way for me to adust this, or is this difference
built into the fonts?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve.
Did you "SPECIFY" the font size on your web page? If not,
you should do that and you can set the font size at any size you
want.. Using a <style> you can set ANY size, by using the FONT size
in a <div> you have the option of size 1 thru 7 + or -.. Also, REGULAR
and BOLD settings can make the difference in how much text will fit
the page.

Yes, I specified font size = 2. When I specify Verdana as the
face, I get a lot more lines on the screen versus when I specify
Trebuchet. The latter appears to have a more whitespace between
lines, because the font in both cases appears to be approximately
the same size.

Steve,
I did a little experiment and came up with the fact that
the fonts in question are inherently different as to the mass.
Trebuchet MS seems to be about a size 2 in a comparison of
Verdana set at size 3... I haven't really looked at that before.
If you went with a <style> and denoted the size in actual pixels
I think you could come up with what you want... I rarely on my
web pages use the 1 thru 7 sizes. The pixel setting gives you
much more control over your text. I think there is an HTML
tag that will let you set the pixels of line to line white space
but I have never used it except in Adobe PhotoShop. It is
called Leading... Here is a website that explains it.. I did
this search AFTER the above comment..

At that site, you will find the info. You can set the LEADING
in the HTML tag in the <STYLE></STYLE> area.

Thanks a lot for your help, Burt. I'll give some of those ideas
a try.

Take care,
Steve
