I'm using MS Frontpage 2002 and for about a week the font has been doing
strange things. It looks fine when I type in a text box, but when I click
Preview the font turns bold and the outline looks fuzzy. I'm a complete
novice to this, and I don't have anything uploaded to the net.

Any help asap would be gratefully appreciated!

Nope it's not running slow... tried that... the font is just fuzzy and
emboldened when it shouldn't be in text boxes when I switch out of design
view!

Nope... it just started happening when I turned the programme on a couple of
days ago... and now I can't do my work... and it's annoying me...

:(

I can't write HTML so I just use the drawing aids to create simple webs... so
I draw out a text box, then type into it. It looks normal in design view. As
soon as I look at it in preview, the text distorts and emboldens and the
edges of the text go fuzzy...

Because that's the only way I know how to use FP... How else would I get the
boxes and images and things?

Text boxes are VML graphics that only work in Internet Explorer. They
use absolute positioning which makes things difficult when users resize
the text or the browser. (resizing text is not a problem in FireFox,
since FireFox users, if they see anything at all will only see an image
of the text.) Hyperlinks in text boxes will only work in Internet
Explorer.

See http://www.rxs-enterprises.org/tests/vml-graphics.htm for more
reasons why VML should be avoided.

Other methods of page layout include tables.
Start with a new page.
Insert->Table
Choose the number of cells across and down that you need - 3 across and
3 down is a reasonable starting point. A better way is to draw a grid
on a sheet of paper and layout your page using that grid. This will
give you a better idea of how many rows and columns you need.
Text and images can then be placed inside the cells.

Again - don't use text boxes - they will turn round and bite.

I have no idea how to use tables to make a professional looking website... I
am the founder of a non-profit organisation so a website is a must and I was
halfway through the new design!

Perhaps you should post the URL here so we can see what's up and give you
some pointers...before...you spend too much time on stuff that's gonna get
you in trbl.

I understood it was not running slow but a lot of times, the 95isalive
program will fix a lot of things. You would be surprised at what that little
program can do. It probably has helped thousands, if not millions.

But it seems the problem has been addressed. You can use those text boxes,
however, browsers will have a problem reading them.

Developing a website is not that difficult. If you tell us that you have a
header, a nav on the left content on the right, and a footer, we might even
show you some code

Get it up there! No ones lookin' - not yet anyway. :-)

You don't really even need to know any HTML to work with tables and design a
nice site in Frontpage. :) So, don't worry too much. I'm teaching myself to
create templates for a bussiness, and it's easier than you think.

Try creating a testing site and play around in it, with different tables and
such. That way you wont mess up all the work you've already got on this one.

Since you don't have anything online, could you take a screen capture
(there's a print screen button on your keyboard for this, then paste into
something like Paint) of one of the pages you have and show us? Then we can
at least see what kind of site you're trying to put together and help more.
