There is only one, and it requires installation of CGWIN to operate.
Not really worth mentioning. A good freeware truetype font creator
program is on this group's "Wish List".

I have been looking around a bit... :-)
Note: nothing tested (yet), so no guarantees.

Manutius 2.0
PS Type 1 font editor?

OTEdit (Japanese?)

AutoTrace
(doesn't make fonts, but converts scans to outlines, maybe useful?)

They have an English version of their program, but I couldn't find an
English version of their page. This is because the webmaster didn't
write the program I guess. I was able to use:

http://world.altavista.com/

to easily translate the page though. Still, the help files for the
"English version" of the program are in German and are quite
extensive, so this program would need further translation.

Also, from the second link:

"Designed for changing fonts, not creating from scratch."

The interface is in Japanese. Also, trnaslated from their site:

"The probation of OTEdit being 30 days, when after the that you use,
it is necessary to remit. In case of 1 license, the amountis 3,000Yen."

So the program is shareware.

Not a truetype font creator.

Yep, this category remains on the wishlist. Thanks for trying though, Jan.

That's about Noah, the author's newer program.

Ya got me. However, the program still needs another program to export
Type 1 to Truetype. Also, as I mentioned the large help file is in German.

If you really need Truetype.
PS Type 1 are fonts too, and ATM Light is freeware... ;-)

That might be a problem for most people here, that's true.

Last time I checked at my local computer shop, Win 2K & XP weren't free...

Doesn't matter, it's meant to let people who have Win2K or XP that
they don't need to look for a tool, there is one already on their hard
drive...or installation CD.

| Windows 2000/XP has a very basic font editor- called eudcedit.exe

Seems just to add special characters to an existing font, rather than
edit existing characters or allowing you to make a new font.

Interesting, and I can think of a few uses for this. But I wouldn't
think that this limited function is what most people have in mind when
seeking a "font editor".
