When changing the default view in my folders, on restarting my
computer they seem to be defaulting back to the old layout.

E.g. - I change the view to list - on start up I have thumbnails
again.

Can anybody give me any tips?

NOTE: Increasing the view settings to 8000 is not making any difference

Thanks,

Elton Wright

Open My Computer and Click on Tools/Folder Options/View then scroll down and
check 'Remember each folders view settings'.

Elton,

What method have you used to increase the folder cache to 8000? See if this script helps:

Increase Folder View Options Limit: (Line 2):

Run this edit, then reset your preferred folder options:

I had the same problem. I could not set a default folder view by using
Control Panel>Folder view. Here's what worked for me.
Open a folder and set the desired view, in your case List.
With the folder open, click Tools>Folder Options...>View tab>Apply to All
Folders button.
That should do it.
