folders show mail but empty

When I have looked at new mail the folder still has the number of mail items
in brackets as if they have not been looked at, even when I empty mail from
the deleted items it still shows as though the mail is still there.
I thought this was supposed to be an improvement from OE.
Is it possible to remove Windows Mail and go back to OE in Vista?

No, you can't install OE on Vista.
AFAIK, WM is the replacement for OE, not necessarily an improvement.

You might want to try the newer Windows Live Mail, which seems to be better
than WM for some users.

Sometimes it's necessary to go to View | Currant View and uncheck Group
messages by conversation in order to see all the messages.
