Sometime ago I originally loaded Win2000pro. When I did the window opened
with the FOLDERS option automatically envoked. Recently I was hit with virus
flood. It was necessary to reformat the hard drive and reload the OS and the
applications. Now when the windows open, the FOLDERS option is NOT
automatically envoked. I can click on the FOLDERS button and it functions
properly. But I miss the windows with automatic FOLDERS. I have tried
various combinations of tools\folders_option parameters but to no avail. All
OS updates have been downloaded and installed.

What can be done? How do I make it work the old way? TIA -- Uncle Billy

Not sure what your asking, but if your talking about the folders being
visible in the left hand pane of windows explorer, then:
check- view-->Explorer Bar-->Folders be sure it is checked
to make all folders open the same way:
Tools-->Folder options-->View Tab-->hit the "like current folder" button

I opened the MY_DOCUMENTS folder.
I did the View-->Explorer Bar-->Folders *click*
I then did it again to verify that the FOLDERS option was checked -- it was.
I closed MY_DOCUMENTS.
When I clicked on MY_DOCUMENTS anew, it opened without the option in effect.
More Suggestions ???
