When I am in Windows Explorer I want my folders to open
in the same window I am using, like they used to. Here
is what I did to cause the problem:
Tried to change all my folder icons from the default
folder icon to a new folder icon that I like. To do this
I opened My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->File Types-
that would be that.
However, I noticed my folder icons had not changed, and
when I double-clicked a folder (My Documents, I think) it
opened up the Search screen in explorer instead of a
window displaying folder contents.
I then right-clicked the folder and saw that Find was in
bold fonts as the new default action for double-clicking
a folder. I went back to File Folder->Advanced and added
a new action called Open and used explorer.exe as the
program that would execute the Open command. I can now
open folders by double-clicking on them, but when I try
to open a folder within the original folder, it opens in
a new Windows Explorer window.
BTW, under Folder Options->General I have the radio
button for "Open each folder in the same window"
selected, so that is not the problem.
Now that you have read my dissertation, can you help?
