I run Windows 2000 on a server for my small office (4
client computers). About once every 10 days or so, I'll
get to the office and find about 15-20 new folders on the
server that were created overnight. They usually have
names containing between 10-25 alpha/numeric characters
and they appear to be empty. When I check the sharing
properties, I notice an unusual user icon. This has
happened 6-7X during the last couple months. I'm uncertain
whether these folders are being generated because of a
virus, malicious attacks, or something wrong with the
server. There's no apparent relationship between the
appearence of these folders and normal (or abnormal)
events on the system, security, or application logs.
Anybody out there run into this before?
