There are folders in Temporary Internet Files yet when I
open it the folders are not shown ... why?

These are "super hidden" folders. In Windows Explorer go to Tools, Folder Options, View and check off:

Show hidden files and folders
Display the contents of System Folders
Hide Protected Operating System Files.

do you want these options checked? if so, Hide Protected
Operating System Files seems contrary to what I needed. I
tried checking and unchecking and still cannot see. When I
search for Content.IE5 the folder appears in the search
window yet when I escalate up one tier it does not appear?

Sorry, Hide protected operating system files should be unchecked. The folders in the TIF are "super-hidden", and they're not easily exposed, directly. One option is to initiate a Search in Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings for all files (*.*) and in the right pane of the search window, you'll see the results, with an indication of what folder each item is in. Right click a file and select Open Containing Folder.

Thanks Doug - this works but frustrated that hidden system
folders are not readily showing up when view options are
checked accordingly -
