Willing to learn

I have two or three folders with over 100 e-mails in each. How do I 'file'
these onto a memory stick so that I can free up space - I am being told that
my mail box is nearly full, which includes the e-mails in these specific
folders. I afraid I am not very computer literate and will need the answer
spelt out to me. Thanks in advance.

You will need to use the "Export" feature - from the "File" menu at the top
on your screen (on the toolbar). It will walk you through a wizard which
will ask you where you want the export to go. There you will "Browse" to
your stick (if you want to create a "special place / folder" for the export
on your stick, do it in advance so it will just be there when you Browse to
the stick and you can select it). If you need them back, you will "Import"
them from there. Don't be afraid - try it !! Also, your "Help" screens
should offer much support for this as well.

First of all, the subject says "Outlook Express". I'm going to assume
you meant Vista's replacement for Outlook Express, which is called
Windows Mail.

Windows Mail has essentially no limit on how many emails you can
have in a folder. That warning is coming from your mail provider, and
it is referring to your mailbox on the server. Log in via webmail, and
delete some emails there.

Windows Mail won't allow export to an external device. Export must
be done to the local hard drive, then copy from there to the external
device.

Incidentally, the OP's issue is not really a need to export.

As Gary said, the problem is not solved the way that "Willing to learn"
thinks it is. People often ask for help with a solution to a problem instead
of asking about the fundamental problem; I see that a lot in developer's
forums. The question should be something such as "how to solve the problem
of my mail box is nearly full" instead of how to export messages to solve
the problem of a nearly full mail box.
