I copied a 12 CD music collection to my computer.
Which would be preferrable --- Put all 12 CD's in one folder, make a folder
with 12 subfolders, or it doesn't make a hoot ??? TIA for any
responses.

This sounds like a personal preference to me. All based on how you
like playing with files and folders.

It really doesn't make a hoot. But I'd make a folder like
ELVIS
CD 1
CD 2
Soundtracks
Startreck
Stargate
Back to the Future
etc

I do this for all my MP3's.

Find out who is going to use the folders to find songs, and then get the
consensus. I had to work one out with my wife, as she browses my pc often.

A person's music collection will always grow over time, so it's best to
keep them organized in folders. But, many MP3 players force you to lump
every music file together into one large directory, so it helps if you
are in the habit of naming every file with a prefix of the directory
that it is in. Such as
C:\music\Sir Mix-A-Lot\Sir Mix-A-Lot - Baby Got Back.mp3

That way, if you are forced to export them to a single directory, they
will still be somewhat organised.
