Folder views keep changing???

When I use Windows Explorer the folder view seems to change about once a week. I set for
Details view, click Tools/Folder Options/View tab/Apply to all folders button. The
setting lasts for about a week or so, and then when I open folders, they open Thumbnails
view, not Details view. I HAVE used Kelly's bags8000.reg file, but the problem still
persists. Are there any fixes. I know that this is not a critical problem. But, it's
irritating.
 
If you are comfortable with Registry work, I would check the actual
Bags index for both Shell and ShellNoRoam. If you have BagMRU
size at 8000, it's unlikely you have that many entries and have reached
the roll-off point.
Sometimes it's necessary to delete all the Bags and reset your folders.
This should rebuild the Bags indexes, but it's a PITA to resize/position
them again.
My own XP instance is about 15 months old and I've just crossed the
2600 count on the ShellNoRoam Bags.
 
Hmmm, I looked at the Registry strings, and for some reason, the bags8000.reg file had
created a new string with a value of 8000, but did not either edit the value for or delete
the default string for 500 bags. So, there were two strings with conflicting values. I
deleted the default string, leaving the string created by the bags8000.reg file and things
seem to be okay.
