The major change over the last few days is I have installed Norton System
Works.

Problem 1.
A while back I had a technician in to install WildBlue and in a couple of
minutes he changed my folder viewing to show most recent items 1st and then
after a pause show the rest of the items. Well I have done something to
change it and now I can't figure out how to get it go back like he had it. In
the process of trying to find the way back I have created problems 2 & 3 that
follow.

Problem 2.
While trying to fix problem 1 I have done something so that when I click on
a folder to open it, the Seach function starts in that folder. When I right
click on the folder the 1st (TOP) command option has changed from Open to
Search.

Problem 3. Most likely related to the others... When I click on the All
Programs button on the start menu I get all of my programs in one long list
instead of seperating into 2 columns.

How many places have you multiposted this?
Problem 3.

With the Classic Start Menu, both of these need to be UNChecked.
XP Start Menu doesn't have Use Personalized Menus option.

XP Start Menu >>
Right click the Start button | Properties |
Start Menu tab | Customize button | Advanced tab |
Scroll down to and UNCheck:
Scroll Programs * |
Click OK | Click Apply | Click OK

Classic Start Menu >>
Right click the Start button | Properties |
Start Menu tab | Customize button |
Scroll down to and UNCheck both of these:
Scroll Programs * |
Use Personalized Menus **
Click OK | Click Apply | Click OK

[*Specifies whether to display the items on the Programs menu as one long
scrolling menu or as horizontal pages. Depending on your screen resolution,
if you have more than 29 or 38 programs installed, and you select to have
one long scrolling menu, you can access the programs you don’t see
by clicking the arrow at each end of the list of programs.]

[**Specifies whether to turn on Personalized Menus.
Personalized Menus keeps the Programs menu clean by hiding items you haven't
used recently, while still keeping other programs easily accessible. You
can gain access to hidden programs by clicking the down arrow at the bottom
of the Programs menu.]

"Use Personalized Menus" Option in Taskbar and Start Menu Properties Has No
Effect on Internet Explorer Favorites Menu

Regarding your Second Problem, see the following article for "Search open
with Folder", hope this help:

http://v2.tlab404.com/articles/detail.asp?iFaq=421&iType=14

Your First Problem is not very much understandable. Are you talking about
Start Menu's folder or Microsoft Word's Menu.

If it is about Start menu folders then the setting is under Taskbar
Properties.

1. Right-click on Taskbar and choose Properties
2. Select Classic Start Menu and click Customize
3. uncheck "User Personalized Menus".

If it is about Microsoft Word Menu then:

1. Click View - Toolbar - Customize
2. On the Options tab - uncheck "Show full menus after a short delay" option.

Let us know!

Sorry I didn't come back to check on yur answer last month. You did answer
the 2nd problem but I never came back to check if anyone else had answered it
after the 1st day. Next time for sure.

Thanks,

Matthew
