Folder View Settings - same as Timbo

I've been having the exact problem that Timbo reported in Dec '03. Does anyone know a solution now?

It is not possible to have WinXP (HomeEd) maintain folder views, although we set the views, and select the option to have Windows remember each folder's setting. Whenever we go back to WinExplorer folders open up in different views than were set. We DO NOT want all folders to have the same view settings. Windows Help indicates this is exactly what we should be doing.

When I change from details to icons or vice-versa, all folders change to that view. The option to set all folders to the same view is NOT SELECTED, and I have tried to Apply, then restart, and all reboot techniques.

Thanks for any info.

This should help
The Default for Windows XP is to remember the view settings for the 400 most
recently used folders.

HELP!!!
(In Windows XP)
How do I keep my "Folder Settings" from reverting back (defaulting?) t
"Auto Arrange" after I set them on "Align To Grid" (or "List")?
I do go further to "Tools" > "Folder Options" > "View" > "Remember Eac
Folder's View Settings" > "Apply" > "OK".
But after a few minutes - or a day or two, the folders in that folde
have reverted back to "Auto Arrange" with "Tiles" or "Thumbnails" whe
I had set them to "Icons".
Up to this point, Microsoft nor Dell have been able to solve thi
for me.
HELP!!!

There should be one way to do this. Do you want ALL of your folders to have
the same settings? If you do then set up one folder with the settings that
you want then after applying those options go to Tools->Folder
Options->View->Apply to All Folders.
