I used to be able to single click on a .jpg file name in a folder. and a
little preview picture would show up on the left side of the folder.
but of course now it doesn't

Can someone tell me how to reset the folder settings?

Control Panel > Folder Options > General tab > under Web View section, Enable
Web content in folders.

Strange. An alternate method would be to select View > Thumbnails. This would
show all images in the same size as the Web view does for a single image.

| thanks
|
| I've tried this setting but it didn't help

Is it possible that fille association has anything to do with the viewing in
the folder?
Because I think there was a file accociation change on my system for some
reason((maybe when I loaded an new program).

I don't think that would cause your problem.

What app is associated with most of your images? Which type was changed due to
your suspected new program installation?

What happened when you tried my last suggestion?

I 'm sorry I don't remember which program was installed when I think it
happened

JPG files are associated with Windows Internet Explorer ver 6.0.2800.1106
I'm not for certain, but I think the icon symbol changed when the file
stopped viewing the pic
The changes you suggested had no effect.
thanks for your help

ron

Try running the following command from Start > Run, and with all programs
closed:

regsvr32.exe /i shdocvw.dll

If still no joy, see this page for a utility that is designed to fix your
problem:

Thanks David

the web page fixed the problem.

if you have time, ... how did this happen? Was it something I did?

or is there even an explanation other than that stuff happpens sometimes.

thanks again for your patience

You're welcome...and thanks for the feedback.

My guess would be that your problem was probably caused by the program that you
installed.

An excerpt from the Doug Knox web page states, "Third party image programs often
change these values, and break the "Image Preview" in Windows Explorer. This
script will also repair the Registry associations for Thumbnail View mode, since
they often get damaged at the same time. "

That sounds exactly like your problem.

| Thanks David
