Folder Templates

Alright, this has bacome more than just a simple
annoyance, as WinXP has decided to not only label most
folders with the "image-folder" template (whether or not
they or the subfolders actually contain images at all),
but also to lock out the "customization" option, so I
can't turn them off.

Quite simply, I want to either be able to either:
A) Disable XP from automatically choosing folder
templates for me (and to avoid the need for colorful
language, I'll just say it's being a bit too eager),
or B) Create a custom temlate that overrides the default
one, and hopefully also can stop XP from the continuing
with the above.

Any help, or ideas/suggestions here would be greatly
appreciated, as something tells me, I'm not alone in
my... distaste for Microsoft's "helpful" additions.

I suppose I should also say, I'm about ready to simply
strip XP down to core files, and rebuild it by line, as
that would probably take much less time. Of course the
thought of retrofitting it to still have some of the
improvements (as few and far between as they may be), but
in the considerably more stable and less... tiresome
environment, of Win98, is a much more appealing scenario.
