Hi there,

I'm hoping that someone has seen this issue before and would be able to
help. A friends PC (XP Home) a few weeks ago decided to add the "Folder
Tasks" menu onto her desktop (it's the one you normally see in Windows
Explorer on the left in place of the folders bar). It doesn't bring up
a menu when you right click on it and changing the background doesn't
remove it either.

Does anyone know of any way to remove it? She can't remember what she
did that put it on there in the first place. We've gone through all the
settings in the desktop properties but there is nothing there. We've
tried a restoring to a previous point and that's not removed it either.
I've searched Microsoft and Google for something similar but can't find
anything like this (could just be wrong terms used in both).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

When anything goes onto the desktop you can also view the desktop as if it was a folder
If you explore the hard drive or go into c:\documents and setting\ all users
if thats there
and then into desktop
There you can view the whole desktop as a foler and try deleting it in there, If it is not letting you delete it becaue it is in use then you may have to restart in safe mode but that stage will have to be crossed when it comes to it
Anyway
Hope i could help sorry if not

That's not helped on this occasion, but thanks for taking the time to
reply! I've been advised it's a registry problem and advised where to
look for the solution (which I'm cautious to post just in case group
doesn't allow urls).

Cheers!
