Does anyone know if there is alimit on the size a folder
can be? I have Win XP home.

Hi Melanie,

If using NTFS, then there is no practical limit for a home user. If using
FAT32, then the limit is 4GB minus a few bytes.

Hi,

Is there a limit to how many objects can be in a folder?
I have a lot of zip files, which I am trying to put into
one folder, and I get error "Cannot move (filename): The
directory or file cannot be created." I have 22,630
objects already in the folder and I have lots more which I
want in there. The files will move ok to a different
folder. I also cannot create a new folder in the file
with all the zips, I get error "Unable to create the
flder 'New Folder' The directroy or file cannot be
created."

Do I have to split my files up?

Thanks :)

Yes. It's a maximun of 64K file names. But some names use more than one entry. This is only on Fat32.

This will probably sound stupid ... Can I convert my drive
to NTFS from FAT32 without formatting it? I am not using
my internal HDD for this, I have an external (thru USB)
HDD which I am using to store data, can I change the file
system on this HDD without having to format it first?

Your help is much appreciated :)

Don't know. You could if it was an internal. Type conversion in help. You can only convert one way.
