Is there any way to increase the size of the
personal.pst. We are using the calendar the journal and
have created many new folders to store e-mail messages
that we have to refer back to know and then. I am
getting an error message and it closes down Outlook.

Put the messages into a separate .pst file. You can use auto-archive
for this. Then use File -> Open to open the archive .pst file in
Outlook. You could also create a new .pst file and drag the e-mails you
want from your current .pst file into the new "alternate" .pst file.
After auto-archiving or moving items into the other .pst file, make sure
to compact your .pst files. A move will delete the original from the
source .pst file. Deleted items are not physically purged from the .pst
file; they just get *marked* as deleted (so you no longer have access to
them within Outlook). Compaction will physically remove delete-marked
items.

The absolute upper limit on a .PST for Outlook 2002 and earlier is 2GB and
most users start having problems upwards of 1GB. Don't let your files get
this large or you run a great risk of losing data. Try using the Archive
feature to move older items to separate .PST files periodically (these files
can be reopened anytime you need to look at their contents), or manually
move the items to other .PST files.
