I have rolder redirection setup and it seems to wprk correctly. I also have
delete local profiles after logoff turned on to keep the profiles of all the
users from using up space on the local systems. This also works.

THe problem I am having is that when a user sets-up settings such as mail
accounts and rules they do not get saved and follow them around. some of
the settings stick like my news server account but not the groups that i
saved but some of the progam options also save. I am not sure what to do
about this other than to keep local copies of the profiles.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Things like the data folder for Outlook Express where newsgroup files are
stored are kept in a section of the profile called "Local Settings". Items
in this location are not redirected.

IMPORTANT: This article contains information about modifying the registry. Before you modify the registry, make sure to back it up and make sure that you understand how to restore the registry if a problem occurs. For information about how to back up, restore, and edit the registry, search for the following article number in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

256986 Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry

Please see registry hive HKEY_USER\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

for the String: ExcludeProfileDirs
with the Value: Local Settings;Temporary Internet Files;History;Temp

If you are to edit this value to read: Temporary Internet Files;History;Temp
it should allow for all new users who have a roaming profile setup to have their local settings roam as well.

For already configured users instead of going through the hive HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon and resetting the value there for each individual user's profile as this would force you to logon as each user instead search for "ExcludeProfileDirs" with the "Match Whole String Only" option checked. This will allow for you to go through the necessary hive to change current users without logging in as them.
