How do I do this:

When a user log's his laptop on to our network his "My documents" should
point to a network drive/path (k:\documents), but when he disconnects the
laptop from the network (using it "offline" - ie at home) the "My documents"
should point to a local drive (d:\documents).

I guess Group Policy Folder redirection stays "active" even when the laptop
is not on the network leaving the user with a "dead" path (should be
d:\documents). I'm i missing something?

Is Folder redirection my answer or do I have to write af login script that
checks for precense of the server and sets the My Documents accordingly?

If you are going to redirect My Documents then you can enable offline
caching and they would be available all the time as the same letter. This is
better that a login script solution

Folder Redirection is your answer here.

How ever I recommend you to read about folder redirection and how it works,
with offline files.

Basic it will work like this. My Documents path are redirected to the
server, BUT you can still access it locally. Because Folder Redirection work
with Offline Files.
