Andy

Hi,
I am looking for help with a folder redirection error that is affecting our xp pro clients (connecting to a 2003 server). All the permissions appear to be in order, there are no pre existing profiles or offline files. Registry editing is enabled. Can anyone suggest a solution or even help with understanding what "Descriptor structure is invalid" means please?

Event pasted below

This issue is occuring in a secondary school in the UK and we have up to 1600 users for any one PC.

Thanks,

Andy

Chris,

Thanks for the KB articles, I have read them and I will check permissions on
folders tomorrow at work. The articles are general in nature and I wonder
whether anyone in this newsgroup can definitively say whether "The security
descriptor structure is invalid. " refers to NTFS / share permissons. I
could understand access denied but I don't know what a security descriptor
structure is! Is this the same as a SID?

Hello Andy,
An Security Descriptor is a string with the particular assigned security,
(ACL and ACE) in code format written in the Security Descriptor Definition
Language (SDDL)

Hi !
We got a similar error when upgrading our XP clients fra SP1 to SP2. Are You
using SP2 ? We got it with a subfolder of My Documents (My Pictures).

Bjørn

I am having the same problem after 2000-2003 upgrade.
If i create a new GPO the redirection is fine but our old win2000 GPO's
(there's lots of them) that were copied across will not work.
Did you come to a conclusion on this Andy?

It Worked

I had the same problems and after changing the permission on the share it worked. I had everyone set to change and read but not Full Control. I added Full Control and everything works, although I am surprised they need Full control and change is not enough.
