Hi,
I am running Win2003 server, and have a problem with XP clients (my 2k
clients have never had this problem). I also have a colleague who is
experiencing the same problem but with Win2000 server and XP clients.
If I specify my IE proxy settings this works fine. However if I also specify
folder redirection settings (regardless of whether its in the same policy or
a separate one), the folders are redirected fine, any settings in the
administrative templates section are applied ok, but my IE proxy settings
are not applying.
I can get them to apply by issuing a gpupdate /force, but I cannot do this
as I am using Mandatory profiles, and therefore the settings are not kept. I
would also rather not specify the proxy settings in the profile as whevever
they are changed I have to go through the entire cumbersome process of
editing profiles.
I can also get them to apply by adding the users as local administrators
using restricted groups, but for obvious reasons this is not a viable
solution.
Oddly enough the first user to log into the workstation gets all the proxy
settings/folder redirection and everything else, but every user after this
does not until the workstation is rebooted.
I also have enabled the options to always wait for network, and to process
the various parts of the policy even when they have not changed.
Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated. Have been tearing my hair
out on this one for ages now!
Thanks very much,
Lee
