Having a strange problem with folder redirection.

It is putting the contents of the redirected folders on the
users desktop. Creating a mirror of the files/folders.
Redirection works, but having all the folders/docs on the
desktop is annoying and confusing to the users. Event log
says everything is ok.

Does anyone know how to stop this?

Server is a Windows 2000 SP 4, clients are XP SP1

Hi Hobbes. I need more information about your environment here. How do you
use folder redirection, for My Documents or Desktop or both? and how are
threes configured?

You may should read the Best Practices for Folder Redirection in the User
Data Setting Management Paper.

The folders are set to redirect, My Docs, App Data, Desktop to:

\\Server2\Users\%username%

This is also the users home folder/directory as specified
in AD users and groups snap in.

The server is an Apple Xserve joined/bound as a member of
the Domain.

Hello, what you actually do here is to mess all together, My Docs, App Data
and Desktop.

Read the best practices document. You suppose to use some thing like the
follow by my advice

\\server\users\%username% for MyDocs (Home Dir)
\\server\appdata\%username% AppData
\\server\desktops\%username% Desktop
