Hi

I have Ultimate 64.

I have a problem with Windows media Player and need to modify the wmploc.dll
file
in the System32 folder but I am told I need permission to do this.

I am the only use and have full rights, how do I set the folder permissions
to
allow myself to modify the file.

thanks

Daniel

No... You're admin account that Vista gives you or any admin account you
create is not a full rights admin account. The one in the link is a full
rights admin account.

The 'full rights admin account' is still a member of the administrators
group
and this group does not have full rights over system files.
Most ( or maybe all ) of the Windows files in the system32 folder are
owned by the
TrustedInstaller account and only this account has full control.
System, administrators and users have only Read (and Read & Execute)
permissions.

I appreciate your comments. However, I was addressing the poster's
misconception of the admin account that Vista gives one out the box or
that one may create, which is not a full-rights admin account. The
hidden one is a full rights admin account.

Hi, sorry it has taken so long to get back, I have been ill.

Thanks for all this info, this is a great help to me.
