Hello and happy new year,
The question:
I want to record a presentation (.pps) on a CD, the presentation has inlaid
elements of video and flash as well as links to other files. All these
elements are contained in a folder. What I would like to do is set only
permission access to the file .PPS (and autorun) and not to the folder with
these elements. I have tried to hide the folder but using the option "see
hidden archives and folders" activated it is continued seeing and having
access. Also I have proven to put a password to the folder, but then the
links do not work.
Is there any way to do this?
Is possible to tell powerpoint the password of the folder when I set the
link?
Regards,
Emilio

The only possible solution that I can think of would require some VBA, which
then means that the presentation will not play in the Viewer and all users
would need to have PowerPoint installed. However, you might investigate
some of the solutions offered at:

Password protect a presentation

SecurePack or PrezGuard Pro may provide the protection you are looking for,
but it's been a long time since I have actually used them, so I don't
remember the details. Both have free trials.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

PowerPoint doesn't provide the functionality that you are looking for.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide this kind of functionality, don't forget to send your
feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
