On previous win versions, you could assign
passwords to shared folders to control access
over a network. But I can't seem to find this
option on XP.

Is it available?

Greetings JCAZ,

Windows XP doesn't use share level passwords like Windows
98 did. Here are some ways to control file sharing.

1. Create a hidden share.

2. Define a password to the Guest account.

3. Create a compressed folder and define a password for
it.

4. If you are using Windows XP Pro, disable Simple File
Sharing and define a access control list. Details here.
