Have Windows XP Home edition.
I like to have some of my folders display in "List" view and others to view
in "Icon" view.
e.g. Control Panel and other Folders on the Desktop.
I have Opened Folder Options, and checked the "Remember each folder view
settings" box, but when I set a particular folder to "Icon" view, after
closing down the system and restarting the folder in question reverts back
to "List" view.
Should I be able to keep some folders in List and others in Icon?
If so, how?

Open a folder you want as Details & select Details. While the folder is
still open, go to -
Tools/Folder Options/View/Apply to All Folders.
Close that all down.
Now open the few odd folders you want in Icon view & change them to that in
the View drop-down menu only.

It worked for me - hope it does the same on yours.

Click on Kelly's link below, then on "F". Scroll down to...

"Folder Views - Keep Settings"
