I am trying to make all folders look the same <View>< Details> and through
<Control Panel><Folder options><View><Reset Folder> <Apply to All Folders>
remains greyed. Somehow I've managed to make all folders view as icons but
cannot seem to get them to display as details.

Thanks.

Instead of launching the Folder Options applet through Control Panel, open a
folder and click on the Tools menu on the toolbar at the top of the window.
Select Folder Options from the menu. See if the Apply to All Folder button
is available now.

Good luck

Thanks. That worked. I somehow knew there was a simple solution. The next
(rhetorical) question is why it is available this way round but not the
other.

You're welcome.

And, you're right. Your next question is a rhetorical one. If you launch
Folder Options in Control Panel, how is Windows supposed to know what view
setting you're trying to apply to all folders? The Reset All Folders is
available since it restores the default view of Tiles.
