folder options apply to all folders not working

Hi,
When I go to folder option->view I cannot apply my
current folders settings to all folders because the
button is not clickable. Any ideas how to make it
clickable? I want to see folder details, and the XP
default is to use annoying icons. Any help on this would
be much appreciated. If you reply, kindly also reply to
(e-mail address removed) so that I can be sure to get it.

Usually this is due to that you try to apply the folder settings while
the Explorer displays the contents of the Control panel or some other
special folder. Make sure that the current folder is a true file
folder like C:\WINDOWS.
