On a Windows 2003 Server, I'm trying to convert some data. I put it in a
folder on desktop. I checked the attributes and the folder said read only.
I checked the files inside, they are NOT read only. I can change the folder
attributes but they change right back to read only.

what gives??

Thanks

Win2000 ignores read-only attributes on folders.

I'm talking about a win2003 server. So why does it show a check mark (light
gray) in
the read only box when all of the files are full privileges? I don't get
it.
Thanks Pegasus!

Windows 2000, XP, 2003, whatever...they don't actually use the Read
Only attribute on folders. The Read Only attribute only applies to
files. If you reaaaaalllly want to change it, you can use the attrib
command from the command prompt. Here's more info...

The problem has occurred since we went to a new software for appraisals.
The new software is supposed to convert the previous software's appraisals.
There is some kind of problem and I'm now looking at why it isn't working.
The directions say that the files must not be read only. I don't know if
the
folder is a problem.

Thanks for the info!!!!!!!
