Hi,
I have win XP
why names of some of my folders in "My Computer" are written in blue and
some in black color? does it have to do anything with sharing and
networking?

The folders with blue names have been compressed. Windows XP
will automatically compress a folder or file that has not been
used recently to save hard drive space.

To remove compression right click on a compressed folder and
select Properties from the menu. On the General page, hit the
Advanced button. Remove the check mark from the box next to
"Compress contents to save disk space". Click OK twice. Click
OK to apply the changes to all subfolders and files. Reverse
the procedure to compress a folder.

If you prefer to see all folder and file names in black go to
Control Panel and double click Folder Options. Click on the
View tab. In the Advanced Settings box, uncheck "Show encrypted
or compressed files in color". Click OK.

FYI, the color of the folder name has nothing to do with
sharing or networking. A shared folder will have a hand beneath
its icon.

Good luck

There is little downside to allowing Windows XP to
automatically compress infrequently accessed files and folders.

Take a look at this article for more info.
