Folder 'My Pictures'

Titles of picture files i.e PIC0001 0002 0003 etc.
suddenly disappeared from underneath each thumbnail in pic
folders. Eventually they returned under pictures but are
still missing under each folder. They show up if mouse is
run over them. Have looked through every menu but canot
find anything to tick that would make numbers show. Have
tried re-start but makes no difference.Advise please
 
Open the folder to see the thumbnails.
Hold the Shift key down and click on the View button and select Details.
Remove your finger from the Shift key. You now see file names.
Hold the Shift key down and click on the View button and select Thumbnails.
You will now see thumbnails with file names under them.
If you want to remove the file names under the thumbnails, just do the same
thing again.
