Folder List

You can't. Outlook has total control over the folder list. What you can
control are the shortcuts.

You can't. To build your own structure either use the Outlook Bar (Outlook
2002 and previous) or the Shortcuts Navigation (Outlook 2003)

How can I change the order of folders in Folder List?

I don't believe you can, short of renaming the folders so that they fit
differently alphabetically.

I was going to Post my own question but found this string on a search; it seems that from trial and error and from what I am reading in this post that you can't sort the Folder List or the Mail View @ all. Anyone know why? You could in office 2000/XP. I have tried Ben's theory and it does not work, the question came to our IS group because a VP wanted to see his archive folder sit above his mail folder in the list. Archive will not sit above his Mail address which is a name starting with a B
Folder beneath the roots folders of Archive or the Mail Folder are sorted alphabetically but the root folders don't seem to conform. Does anyone know a way around this or are we pretty much trapped in this view

Regards
Tom

Oh, you were talking about data stores rather than "folders." I suspect
that the behavior you're describing is "by design." A lot of folks had
archive and personal folders that were appearing above their mailboxes
and the development team probably decided that the primary data store should
be the first one listed.
If he needs to access his archives that much perhaps you should either
rethink your archive policy or create shortcuts on the shortcut bar to
the archive folders he needs?

Hi Sue,

Hope you're still following this thread...

I'm trying to help our hardware guy figure this one out. When he installed
Office 2K (clean install from an installation point), the result was that
the top level folders in the Folder List are in reverse order: Public
Folders, then Personal Folders, then Outlook Today. Not really a big deal
but we're interested to know if this is symptomatic of another problem or
there's something we're missing. Other machines that have had Office
installed from or synced with the installation point display the folders in
alpha order, as expected.

As always, thank for any assistance you can offer.

Ciao,

Tony

It does sound a little weird. I wonder if a new profile would show the same
thing.

Sue,

Thanks for the response. I'll have my compatriot uninstall Office and try
with a new profile. It sure would be nice if that list could be sorted
manually...

Thanks a million,

Tony
